Privacy policy

The short version: the game collects no personal data. There are no ads, no tracking and no accounts of our own. Your progress stays on your device. The game sends anonymous play numbers so we can make it better, and you can turn that off in Help.

What the game keeps, and where
To remember your game, it saves your progress, coins, boosts, collected cards and settings on your device. We never receive a copy. If your device is backed up, the saved game is part of that backup, which belongs to you.
Anonymous play data
To find levels that are too hard and features nobody uses, the game sends small anonymous play events to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service from the EU. An event says things like: a board was finished, which world and level it was, how long it took, how many hints were used, or that a card was opened. It also carries the app version, the kind of device, its system version, and the language and region setting.
Events never contain your name, email, Apple Account, contacts, location, advertising identifier or anything you type. A random identifier is scrambled on your device before it is sent, so it cannot be traced back to you or linked to other apps. The data is not used for advertising and is not sold or shared. Switch off Share anonymous play data in Help and nothing is sent.
TelemetryDeck keeps the events under its own rules for how long data is kept. Because an event carries nothing that points to you, we cannot pick out the events of one player to delete them. Switching the setting off stops any new ones. If you have a question about this data, write to us.
iCloud and Game Center
Version 1.0 of the game does not use iCloud or Game Center. A later version may add them, for example to move your game between your devices. If it does, this page is updated first.
Purchases
Coin packs are bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; the game only learns that a purchase went through, so it can add the coins. We never see your name, payment card or Apple Account.
This website and the correction form
The website sets no cookies and has no analytics. Its pages, pictures and fonts all come from our own site. When you send a correction, we receive what you typed: the world, the card, your message, a source link if you gave one, and your email if you gave one. It reaches us as an email, is saved as a file at Cloudflare and is used only to check and fix the card and to reply to you. We delete it once the card is fixed or the question is closed. The form is protected against spam by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser without tracking you across sites.
The launch email
If you leave your email to hear when the game is out, we keep only that address. We send one email when the game launches and then delete the list. You can ask us to remove your address before that at any time. It is stored with Cloudflare, who host the website, and is never shared or sold. The sign-up uses the same Turnstile check as the correction form.
Instagram and TikTok
Our pages on Instagram and TikTok are run by those companies under their own privacy policies. The website and the game do not load anything from them; the links only open their sites.
What we do not do
- No ads, now or later.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
- No sign-up, no location, no contacts.
- We do not sell or share any data.
Age rating
The game is rated 9+ on the App Store. It collects no personal data from any player, whatever their age. The correction form asks for an email only if you want a reply; players under 13 should ask a parent or guardian before giving one.
Removing your data
Deleting the game removes everything it saved on your device. To have a correction message or your launch email address deleted, write to hello@whatsthattile.com and we will delete it.
Changes
If the game or this site ever starts handling data in a new way, this page is updated first and the date at the top changes.
